Since 1904, Big Brothers/Big Sisters has been changing the lives of children facing adversity for the better, forever. We make meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 6-17, nationwide. By nurturing and empowering children, we strengthen communities.

Becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable and fulfilling things you’ll ever do. And, the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do. Community-based mentoring relationships involve one-on-one outings and activities that Bigs and Littles enjoy together, such as walking in the park, going to a local museum, or an event hosted by the local BBBS affiliate, sharing music, books, or simply hanging out and talking. Some Bigs meet their Littles on the weekends. Others get together on weekday evenings. Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them (8 hours monthly).
In the Site-Based program, Bigs and Littles spend one-on-one time together at a designated location such as a school, after school program, or other appointed site. A group or organization does a one day event with kids who are on the Littles waitlist. This is an opportunity for the potential Bigs to experience what it is like being a mentor, and likewise to give the kids on the waitlist the opportunity to experience what it is like being a Little. The event may take place at a local park or play are
A group or organization does a one day event with kids who are on the Littles waitlist. This is an opportunity for the potential Bigs to experience what it is like being a mentor, and likewise to give the kids on the waitlist the opportunity to experience what it is like being a Little. The event may take place at a local park or play area, and is a great day filled with fun, food and friendship. Local organizations can get involved in numerous ways, such as sponsoring food and beverages, hosting an activity, or running a field day game.
