Family Counseling of Columbus (FCC)
Family Counseling of Columbus (FCC) provides outpatient clinical counseling, education, and support services, with emphasis on personal growth, healthy personal and relationship development, and improved management of situational changes or crises. We help our clients cope with many of life's challenges, including, but not limited to: marital problems, parent-child relations, job loss, depression, anxiety, and/or healing from traumas such as sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, or combat-related traumas. Counseling is typically aimed at symptom reduction, improved functioning, and better management of emotional, mental, and/or behavioral concerns. The problems and situations that FCC addresses are as varied and unique as the thousands of clients we serve each year, and our highly-trained team rises to the challenge every time. Essentially, we address the distress and impairment in social, occupational, educational, or other critical areas of functioning that result when someone is overwhelmed by life adjustment issues, mental illness, and/or traumatic crises that interfere with their ability to cope, problem solve, and function at their usual or desired level. Here at Family Counseling of Columbus, we provide hope, healing, and empowerment to anyone in our community who wants it - we believe mental health services should be affordable and accessible to all without sacrificing quality and integrity. FCC also now offers financial counseling and education (formerly Consumer Credit Counseling of West GA/East AL).
- Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of West GA/East AL is a sub-program of Family Counseling of Columbus, with the goal of providing advocacy and education in the following areas: Credit & Debt Counseling*, Budgeting, Pre-and-Post Bankruptcy Counseling, Rental and First-Time Homebuyer Counseling, Foreclosure Prevention, and Financial Management.

- How long has CCCS been serving the community, and what sets CCCS apart from other credit counseling services? Since 1986, CCCS has provided accessible budget and financial management services as an integral part of The Family Center. In merging with Family Counseling, we recognize the undeniable correlation between mental health and financial stressors, and take pride in our unique position of being able to offer qualified, knowledgeable financial services with a renewed focus on preventative, proactive education. This sets us apart from more traditional, "corrective" credit counseling models.
*We no longer offer in-house debt consolidation. Upon counselor's evaluation, a referral may be made to our partner CCCS of Rochester if a debt management plan is recommended.
